Before social media is available, people want to express their opinions or ideas. Generally, they can only pass some large-scale speeches or marches. The “convenient behavior circle” of social media often gives people a new way of expressing their own behavior and thinking. It simplifies people’s behavior, and only needs keyboard, video, etc. to express their behavior and thoughts anytime, anywhere. At the same time, this has further produced “Slacktivism”. Whether people are lying down, sitting, or squatting, as long as they have a mobile phone or a computer that can be connected to the Internet, they can freely express their own opinions. However, under the influence of fast food news, people rarely investigate the true and false of one thing, they can express their own ideas, and often have some keyboard man. The wave of public opinion they create can often engulf another person. At the same time, these waves are sometimes effective, come fast, and go fast, and have not left a deep impact on the incident. Often thousands of messages can be rotated in a day.
Through this study, I think people need to make reasonable use of social media, not to be overly addicted. Moreover, the speeches published in social networks are also legal. Don’t rely on the fake face given by the Internet.
In my podcast I introduced the social media and the importance for today’s world. Social media is a tool and platform for people to share their opinions, experiences with each other. It does bring us lots of convivence of communication, but it is also having some risk about the activisms. I used the scholarly recourse of Earl and Kimport’s book ‘Activism or slacktivism? The potential and pitfalls of social media in contemporary student activism.’ It introduced the slacktivism. And I talked about the disadvantage of it. I used the ice bucket challenge, earth hour, candle-forwarding and other well-known events to be the example.
